Bloemenceremonie Keti Koti Festival 2025, Rotterdam

On June 30, 2025 , the city of Rotterdam gathers for a poignant and unifying event: the Bloemenceremonie at the Keti Koti Festival . Rooted in remembrance and shaped by resilience, this ceremony is a powerful tribute to the ancestors who suffered under slavery—and a celebration of the freedom that emerged from struggle.

The journey begins at Maaspodium at 17:45 , with participants walking together to Loydkade , where at 18:00, the flower-laying ceremony commences. Flowers are offered to the water as symbols of remembrance, healing, and the ongoing journey toward justice and equality.

Accompanied by moving performances, music, and shared reflection, the Bloemenceremonie stands as a moment of collective honor and cultural strength. It’s part of a greater celebration the Keti Koti Festival that embraces heritage, freedom, and the richness of shared identity.
